The Turkish Embassy in Athens has organised the first part of the public lecture series, entitled “Glimpses of the Past in the Cultural Expressions of Greece and Turkey” in the Gennadius Library’s conference hall on 20 September 2016.

Prof. Arzu Öztürkmen from Boğaziçi University, Department of History gave the lecture on “Historical Drama in Turkish Television” while Assist. Prof. Τhanassis Agathos from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens presented his lecture entitled “Byzantium in Greek Cinema and Television”. Their presentations were accompanied by slides and video clips that captured the attention of the guests.

After the presentations, the guests found an opportunity in engaging the lectures by posing questions to the academicians and a lively debate took place.

The lectures were followed by a reception where guests could find time to meet the academicians and representatives of various cultural institutions.

The second part of the lecture series (Shadow Theatre Venues and Audiences in Turkey and Greece) will be held on 19 October 2016, at 19:00 in the same place and we look forward to welcome all who has an interest in the subject.
