The Turkish Embassy in Athens has the pleasure to announce the second part of the public lecture series, entitled “History in Shadows: Shadow Theatre Venues and Audiences in Greece and Turkey”.

Prof. Serdar Öztürk from Gazi University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio Television and Movie, will give the lecture on “The Affective Public Sphere: Karagöz Talks to Ottoman Coffeehouse Frequenters” while Assoc. Prof. Anna Stavrakopoulou from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Theatre Studies, will present her lecture entitled “Karaghiozis Performances from the Cities to the Countryside”. The lectures will be presented in a way that will capture the interest of wider public and will be followed by a discussion session in which the guests will find the opportunity to pose questions.

The Lecture is sponsored by the Turkish Embassy in Athens and will be held at Gennadius Library, Gotsen Hall, Anapiron Polemou St. No:9 on 19 October 2016 Wednesday, at 19:00. A cocktail will be given after the lecture.

The Lecture is organised in the context of the three part public lecture series entitled “Glimpses of the Past in the Cultural Expressions of Greece and Turkey”. The first part has already taken place on 20 September and the third one will be held on 29 November.
